Pick Any Color

This poem is all about decision-making! I was inspired by an old crush who frequently dyed her hair all the time into these different colors. I hope you all enjoy the piece!

Pick any color on the wheel,

And see what it reveals.

Match whichever suits you

From the warmest to the chilliest of hues.

Don’t overthink and blunder,

Or fill your mind with gruesome thunder

For there is no win or lose.

You choose green as you glance around

Concerned with attracting the mean.

Switch to red when you form a frown

Wishing to be the talk of the town.

Hungry for your abilities to be seen,

Solely expecting everyone’s curiosity.

Pick pink as you overthink,

Thinking your brain continues to shrink.

Yellow to captivate others and allure,

Seeking only recognition and praise.

Revert back to pink remaining unsure

When you want to play it safe.

An inconsistent and orbiting state

Not knowing what it wants that’s so hard to find.

Rational thoughts go blind,

Full of second thoughts remaining hesitant,

But afraid of falling behind,

Wishing it’d just be over.
